Rohit Shetty addressed the recent spate of firing incidents involving Bollywood personalities while hosting the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20. Stepping in for Salman Khan, who was unavailable due to prior commitments, Rohit called out contestants for behaving like gangsters and reminded them of the real-life consequences of violence.
His remarks came against the backdrop of the recent firing incident involving Tiger Shroff in Juhu and the shooting outside Rohit's own residence earlier this year. While reprimanding contestant Yung DSA, the filmmaker highlighted the contrast between the contestants' conduct inside the reality show and the threats faced by people outside it.
"You guys think yourselves to be gangsters, but you look like 10th standard students. Bullets are being fired at our homes here," Rohit said, questioning why the contestants were trying to project a gangster image.
In February 2026, five rounds were fired outside Rohit Shetty's residence in Juhu, Mumbai. Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were allegedly involved in the incident. Mumbai Police subsequently filed a chargesheet against 17 accused in connection with the case.
More recently, on October 18, three men opened fire at Tiger Shroff's car outside a football ground in Juhu. The men reportedly arrived on two motorcycles and fired five rounds. Tiger escaped without bullet injuries, while his driver and another person were injured. The incident prompted Mumbai Police to step up security around several Bollywood personalities, including Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.
During the episode, Rohit addressed the behaviour of several contestants, including Aasif Khan and Scout OP. Calling out Aasif's aggression during an argument with Qazi, he said, "You get very aggressive, Asif. It's scary to watch. You almost gave a headbutt to Qazi."
He also reprimanded Scout for grabbing fellow contestant Arishfa Khan by the legs and dragging her. Turning to Yung DSA, Rohit acknowledged that he had the potential to stand independently rather than rely on a group. "Yung, you don't play in a group, and that's a good thing about you. This show gives you a lot, so Yung, you start flying solo; you have the potential," he said.
However, the filmmaker criticised the group's conduct, saying they walked around as though they were gangsters despite not belonging to any gang. His remarks took on added significance amid the recent firing incidents involving members of the film industry.
On the professional front, Rohit is gearing up for Golmaal 5, which is scheduled to release in January 2027.
