FWICE had announced a Non-Cooperation Directive (NCD) against Ranveer Singh following his sudden exit from Farhan Akhtar's Don 3. Several authorities and members of the film fraternity condemned the association's decision. Earlier today, reports were rife that Ranveer had sent a legal notice to FWICE over its decision. Now, FWICE has withdrawn the Non-Cooperation Directive. This also comes after PGI shared a statement condemning the conduct of artists.
The decision was taken after an intervention by the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA), the Producers Guild of India (PGI), and the Cine & TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA).
"We are taking back our Non-Cooperation Directive with immediate effect after a request by IMPPA, the Producers Guild, and CINTAA. We have been told that we should all sit together with the producers' body and take an appropriate decision where neither the producers and directors nor the actor face any issues," FWICE president BN Tiwari told reporters during a press conference.
"No one has won or lost in this matter. Our legal department will respond to his legal notice," he added.
The Non-Cooperation Directive against Singh was issued on May 25 and came after Akhtar and his producing partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, filed a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), which referred the issue to FWICE for further intervention. The makers claimed that Ranveer exited the film Don 3 three weeks before production was set to begin, causing them a loss of Rs 45 crore.
FWICE maintained that it had attempted to communicate with Ranveer multiple times regarding the issue. When no resolution was reached, the federation issued a Non-Cooperation Directive advising its affiliated members and workers to refrain from collaborating with the actor until the matter was settled. However, FWICE representatives later clarified that the directive was not a legal ban but an industry recommendation.
At the time, Singh's spokesperson issued a statement, saying the actor continues to hold "deep respect and goodwill" for everyone associated with the film and the industry. "Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence."
Recent reports suggest that Ranveer has sent a legal notice to FWICE and moved the Bombay Civil Court, arguing against the action taken by the organisation.
