Is it the end of the Hindi Drishyam franchise? Yes, and no. Ajay Devgn unveiled the poster of Drishyam: The Conclusion on August 24, hinting that the third instalment will take the story, as we know it, to its decisive end. But don't be surprised if Devgn, like his character Vijay Salgaonkar, has a surprise up his sleeve. mid-day has heard that the superstar, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, and director Abhishek Pathak are considering taking the franchise forward, but with an entirely different story.

So, what stays in the film's world? While the discussion is at an early stage, the buzz is that the much-loved protagonist will remain. A source revealed, "Kumar Mangat and Abhishek have decided that with Drishyam 3, Vijay Salgaonkar and his family's years-long story of the accidental murder and its cover-up will end. But they also have the Drishyam title registered. Everything is at a speculative stage, but they are discussing that the franchise name may be carried forward with Vijay Salgaonkar. However, it will be a different character set in a new world. The story and remaining characters too will be new." The fourth chapter, if made, will be a thriller like its preceding instalments.

The Hindi version of ‘Drishyam 3' will have a different story from the Mohanlal-led Malayalam counterpart that released on May 21

That is poles apart from the route the Malayalam Drishyam franchise is taking. Given the recent third edition's success, Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor are keen on another outing. The source added, "The Malayalam Drishyam 4 may be a prequel, or a progression of the third part. It depends on what director Jeethu Joseph and the makers are most convinced by."
