The shoot of Shah Rukh Khan's King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is finally underway. The team started shooting the action-packed entertainer at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai on May 21 (Princess takes charge, King yet to arrive, May 21). According to insiders, the first day of filming featured a scene with SRK, Suhana Khan, and Saurabh Shukla, with a packed schedule from 9 am to 9 pm. The team is set to shoot through the week. While the shoot has only recently begun, latest reports suggest that the team has already finalised the release date of the actioner. It is apparently being scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Trade experts are excited with the choice of date, given its alignment with a national holiday. According to trade sources, following the superstar's record-breaking 2023, industry insiders are expecting that the superstar will deliver yet another box-office blockbuster. The film features an ensemble cast, including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, and Rani Mukerji.

Veteran actors Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal joined filmmaker Wes Anderson at the Cannes Film Festival for a screening of Satyajit Ray's 1970 classic, Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in the Forest). The 4K restored version was showcased under the Cannes Classics section. Anderson, a long-time admirer of Ray, led the six-year restoration of this 1970 Bengali classic and introduced the film at the festival. Talking about the classic, he shared that he thinks Ray's film is a special gem among his works, cherishing it as a nearly forgotten yet impactful film. Anderson, a self-proclaimed admirer of Ray, . He appreciated Ray's realistic portrayal of humans and attention to detail, often incorporating similar themes in his own films.

It's a Hollywood remake?

Sunny Deol

mid-day reported that Sunny Deol is set to make his OTT debut with an action thriller film, which will be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra (Never too late to experiment, May 16). We have learnt that it is an adaptation of the Hollywood movie, Death Sentence (2007), and will go on floors this July, and drop on OTT in the second half of 2026. Reports suggest that Sunny has committed to a lengthy shoot and will reportedly receive a substantial fee for his role.

Historical action drama Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, is set to arrive in cinemas globally on May 1, 2026. It will be released in in six languages - Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Abhishek Bachchan, on May 21, took to social media to announce that he is also a part of the film. Taking to Instagram, he wrote, "Privileged and honoured to present a cinematic tribute to India's legendary warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj!" The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Majjrekar, and Genelia Deshmukh, among other. The movie's music is scored by Ajay-Atul, while the cinematography is handled by the renowned lensman Santosh Sivan.
