Hrithik Roshan praises Dhurandhar
Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar is enjoying a monstrous run at the box office. Touted as one of the biggest films of 2025, it is earning praise from all corners for its raw depiction and authentic portrayals. However, a section of the audience is also miffed by its portrayal of Pakistani politics. Amid this, Hrithik Roshan took to social media and praised Aditya Dhar's directorial.
On Wednesday, the actor took to his Instagram Stories and shared his views. He praised the project for its storytelling, adding that he did not align with its political stance.
Hrithik wrote, "I love cinema. I love people who climb into a vortex and let the story take control, spin them, shake them until what they want to say is purged out of them onto that screen. Dhurandhar is an example of that. Loved the storytelling. It's cinema. I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, can't ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema. Amazing."
Before this, Hrithik Roshan backed Yami Gautam when she called out Bollywood's "paid hype" trend as a growing threat to the industry ahead of Dhurandhar's release. She had written, "This so-called trend of giving money, in the disguise of marketing a film, to ensure good âhype' for a film is created or else âthey' will continuously write negative things (even before the film is released), until you pay âthem' money, feels nothing but a kind of extortion."
Apart from Hrithik, War 2 director Siddharth Anand praised Ranveer Singh's film and called it a nasha. Even politician Smriti Irani was blown away by its cinematic brilliance. Rakul Preet, Arjun Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone were among other celebs who heaped praises. Akshay Kumar also took to his X handle and shared a note where he described the film as a gripping tale. He extended his appreciation to Aditya, noting that stories like these need to be told in a hard-hitting way.
The film features a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and others. Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has already announced its sequel, slated for March 19, 2026. Set in Pakistan, the film follows the journey of an Indian spy who goes undercover within the infamous Lyari gangs.
