Microdramas are the new fad in the industry, with many independent creators and some platforms creating episodes ranging from 30 seconds to two minutes. Now the bigwigs of Bollywood are ready to bet big on the format. mid-day has learnt that Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment, the OTT wing of his banner, is foraying into vertical dramas.

A source revealed, "Work on the format has already begun. It not only gives the production house a way to tap into a wider audience, but also a chance for writers to create snackable content, boasting the banner's aesthetics."

The source added that Johar's production house has partnered with Amazon MX Player to stream the microdramas. Earlier this year, the streamer rolled out its microdrama service called Fatafat to cash in on the booming demand.
