Mohitt Maalik in Mirapur The Movie
Mirzapur: The Movie has finally hit the screens and has left the audience impressed with its big-screen version after creating cult status with the series. As the tension and the battle for the throne of Mirzapur comes to the big screen, the movie has also left viewers with a number of questions after its 3 hours and 17 minutes runtime. One of them was the fate of Mohitt Maalik's character, Birju Lohar, in the franchise.

The film introduces a new antagonist in the form of Ravi Kishan, who plays Babban Yadav, a drug dealer from Jaisalmer who, with political connections in Mirzapur and Jaunpur. After a trade with Kaleen Bhaiya, played by Pankaj Tripathi, goes wrong, Babban is adamant about taking control of the Mirzapur throne.
Meanwhile, Mohitt Maalik's character, Birju Lohar, is also a new addition to the franchise. Birju is Babban's close aide, assisting him.
As Babban eyes the throne, a major brawl erupts between the two parties. Amid the fight, a major revelation about Birju's past is made. Birju is shown to be the ex-lover of Been Triptathi, the wife of Kaleen Bhaiya, played by Rasika Duggal. She is forced to marry Kaleen, thus leaving Birju heartbroken.
Following his heartbreak, Birju vows to take revenge on Kaleen Bhaiya and plans to do so by siding with Babban. Amid the fight, Birju tries to take his revenge by killing Kaleen Bhaiya, but is eventually killed by Munna Tripathi, Kaleen Bhaiya's elder son, played by Divyendu.
However, it is later unveiled that Birju was never dead; he was just injured in a gruesome manner as they took him away. With Birju alive, the viewers are left with questions about his future.
Will he be seen in the upcoming seasons of the show, or will he continue his vengeance in the sequel to the film? It is likely that Mohitt's character will be introduced in the next instalment of the series as a newly added villain against Pankaj Tripathi's Kaleen Bhaiya. However, the makers are yet to clarify on the same.
Mirzapur: The Movie was one of the highly anticipated films of 2026. Adapted from the fan-favourite series Mirzapur, the film was released in theatres on September 4, 2026, amid largely positive reviews. The film is also doing well at the box office.
