'Don't pap me ever': Mouni Roy strongly reacts after confronting paparazzi; deletes statement later

Actress Mouni Roy has addressed the viral video in which she was seen losing her cool with paparazzi during a recent outing in Mumbai. The incident, which quickly gained traction on social media, showed the actress asking photographers to stop recording her even after she had entered her car. While the clip sparked widespread debate online, Mouni later shared her side of the story in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The actress made it clear that she no longer wishes to be photographed by paparazzi and stressed that she has not been inviting photographers to cover her public appearances.

In her statement, Mouni wrote, "Don't pap me ever pls. I have not called you guys for long enough. Promise to love and respect you, but not call you. Please never come for me ever. Would be grateful. So next time anyone sees me papped, I haven't called them. Don't want you to pap me ever at all. Just stop, please. Please. Ever again. All my love and respect."

Although the post was removed shortly after being uploaded, screenshots of it soon circulated across social media, reigniting conversations around celebrity privacy and the increasingly intrusive nature of paparazzi culture.

All about the controversy

The controversy began after Mouni was spotted leaving a restaurant with actress Anusha Dandekar. As photographers continued filming her through the car window after she was seated inside, Mouni appeared visibly uncomfortable and repeatedly asked them to stop. Videos from the incident showed her firmly telling the paparazzi, "Band karo" (Stop it), before driving away.

The actress has not issued any fresh clarification after deleting her Instagram statement, leaving fans divided over the incident. While some social media users criticised her reaction, many others came out in support, arguing that celebrities deserve personal space and that filming someone after they have entered their vehicle crosses a line.

On the professional front, Mouni was recently seen in the web series Ab Hoga Hisaab, alongside Sanjay Kapoor, Shaheer Sheikh, Nimrat Kaur Ahluwalia and Avinash Mishra. She will next be seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film The Wives, which also features Shalini Passi.
