Mushtaq Khan dies at 75: Did you know the late actor was once kidnapped and tortured for 12 hours

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, best known for his roles in films such as Welcome, Hera Pheri and more, has died after battling lung cancer at the age of 75. While he is widely remembered for his long career, the actor made headlines in 2024 when he was allegedly kidnapped after being lured under the pretext of attending a fake event.

Mushtaq Khan kidnapping

Mushtaq Khan was reportedly invited for an event in Meerut on November 20, 2024. An advance amount was also transferred to his account, and he even received flight tickets from the organisers to attend the event. Upon reaching Delhi, the actor was asked to get into a car and was driven away to the outskirts, somewhere near Bijnor.

His business partner Shivam Yadav revealed that the kidnappers allegedly tortured Khan for almost 12 hours and also demanded a crore in ransom of Rs 1 crore. The kidnappers eventually took more than Rs 2 lakh from Khan and his son's account. The next morning, the actor managed to escape and sought help from the locals to return home.

"Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken over what happened with him. However, he was always sure that he would file an FIR after he composed himself. Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have proof of the flight ticket, the bank accounts and even CCTV footage near the airport. He also recognises the neighbourhood, even the house where he was kept. I think the police team will surely get the culprits soon," Shivam revealed.

Bijnor Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Jha had also said, "On October 15, the accused, posing as Rahul Saini, invited film actor Mushtaq Khan for an event in Meerut on November 20, offering Rs 25,000 as advance payment and a flight ticket."

Mushtaq Khan death

Mushtaq Khan passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The actor died due to lung cancer, his business partner Shivam revealed. He was diagnosed with lung cancer five years ago and had even recovered. However, the cancer relapsed recently, and he was admitted to Nanavati Hospital 15 days ago.

The cancer eventually spread to his liver, leading to his death. His last rites will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026.
