Priyanka Chopra, who made headlines earlier on Thursday after a video of her making some food choices went viral on the internet. Desi netizens slammed the 'desi' girl for choosing Western food items over Indian delicacies. And now, PeeCee has fired back in style at the trolls who have been criticising her for her food preferences. She reacted to the mixed response to the viral video, sarcastically saying she did not know one has to follow some âsyllabus' for being desi.
During an interaction at the red carpet premiere of her latest release, Heads of State, Priyanka was asked some questions as part of a fun rapid fire. She was asked to pick between two dishes, out of which was an Indian food item and the other was international cuisine. When asked to choose between empanadas and samosas, she hesitated for a while before playing it safe by saying, "Depends on the mood."
She was then asked to pick between enchiladas and chicken tikka masala. She calls it a tough one before eventually saying, "both." However, when asked to choose between vada pav and hot dogs, she immediately picks the second option without giving it a second thought. She said, "I love a vada pav, but hot dog is my weakness."
Her answer did not sit well with desi netizens as they began commenting on the video. An influencer known for mocking American TikTokers who try Indian food jumped on and posted a reaction video. Soon, the internet erupted with comments, with many calling her choices "absolutely blasphemous."
Priyanka Chopra took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday to slam the trolls. The actress shared the influencer's video, questioning why she took so much time to choose between Indian food items and other items. In the caption, Priyanka wrote, "Wow bro! Didn't know there was a syllabus for being desi. Its not that serious (laughing face emoticons)."
Priyanka was recently seen in Heads of State, alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in the comedy action thriller. Additionally, she is also set to make her comeback to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli's SSMB 29.
