Producer and actor Jackky Bhagnani raised a lot of eyebrows after calling his marriage with actress Rakul Preet Singh a âsituationship'. Clarifying that the comment was made in a light-hearted context, the actress said people took only one line out of the conversation and made it unnecessarily personal.
During her interaction with India Today, Rakul Preet Singh clarified the remark and said, "Obviously, we were laughing about it. Then it started getting a little too much and became a little personal. I felt that people don't know us. People don't know [about] our life. It was also taken out of context⦠it was just that word and that line (which became headlines), not the question and not the lines before that."
The actress went on to add, "Also, because I am sitting in that interview. It's not like my husband has gone and said that somewhere else. We were talking about relationships. Then we felt, let's just joke about it. It's okay, mistakes do happen, it's not a big deal."
During the conversation, the filmmaker said, "Rakul and I are married, but we are like in a situationship, which is, of course, we are exclusive to each other because that's why we are married. But the most important thing is that I can talk to her about anything."
Later, clearing the air around the viral statement, Rakul wrote on her Instagram Stories, "We had a great laugh today about how one line from an hour-long conversation can suddenly become the headline. Funny⦠until it's not. Context matters. Nuance matters. Conversations deserve better than being reduced to clickbait."
She also shared a video in which she tells Jackky to stop behaving like Gen Z, and he apologises for the remark.
For those unversed, Rakul and Jackky reportedly dated for nearly three years before tying the knot on February 21, 2024, in Goa. They had two wedding ceremonies - a Punjabi Anand Karaj in the afternoon, followed by a Sindhi ceremony at night.
She is all set to reunite with Ayushmann Khurrana for Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which is scheduled for release on May 15. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. Apart from this, she is also a part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.
