The controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh's exit from Don 3 has taken a legal turn, with reports claiming that the actor has sent a legal notice to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) after the organisation issued a non-cooperation directive against him. The dispute, which began following his departure from the highly anticipated film, has now reportedly reached the courts.

Ranveer Singh moves court over non-cooperation directive

According to reports, FWICE issued the directive after complaints were raised regarding Ranveer's alleged withdrawal from Don 3. The film, backed by Excel Entertainment and directed by Farhan Akhtar, had reportedly incurred substantial pre-production expenses before the actor exited the project. Industry bodies claimed that the move caused significant financial losses and sought an explanation from the actor.

FWICE maintained that it had attempted to communicate with Ranveer multiple times regarding the issue. When no resolution was reached, the federation issued a non-cooperation directive advising its affiliated members and workers to refrain from collaborating with the actor until the matter was settled. However, FWICE representatives later clarified that the directive was not a legal ban but an industry recommendation.

In response, Ranveer has reportedly challenged the directive through legal channels. Reports suggest that the actor sent a legal notice to FWICE and moved the Bombay Civil Court, arguing against the action taken by the organisation. The development marks a major escalation in what has become one of Bollywood's most talked-about industry disputes in recent months.

The matter has also sparked debate within the film fraternity. Several industry figures have questioned whether trade bodies have the authority to issue such directives. Producer T.P. Aggarwal has reportedly approached the court challenging the legality of similar actions by industry organisations, arguing that no association can prevent professionals from working.

All about the controversy

Producer Nikhil Dwivedi also weighed in on the controversy, stating that contractual disputes should be resolved through legal mechanisms rather than directives that could affect a person's livelihood. He emphasized that disagreements over projects are not uncommon in the film industry and should be settled through due process.

Meanwhile, actress Kangana Ranaut publicly expressed support for Ranveer amid the controversy, suggesting that increased success often attracts greater opposition.

While neither side has publicly detailed its complete legal strategy, the dispute appears far from over. As court proceedings begin, the outcome could have wider implications for how industry bodies handle disputes between actors, producers and production houses in the future.
