Back in 2022, reports surfaced that Salman Khan was set to launch his bodyguard Gurmeet Singh Jolly aka Shera's son, Abir Singh, in Bollywood. Reports claimed that the superstar had approached Satish Kaush to helm Abir's debut film, and reportedly, in January 2023, its shooting was supposed to start. However, there weren't many details about the project, and in March 2023, Kaushik passed away. Now once again, reports about Abir's first film are in circulation.
According to a report by Filmfare, Abir will be launched in a film named Tarzan, in which Sooraj Pancholi will also star. However, it is not yet clear whether the film will be backed by Salman or someone else.
Interestingly, Sooraj made his Bollywood debut with the romantic action film Hero, which was produced by Salman. The movie also featured Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty in the lead role. While the film failed to make an impact, Sooraj and Athiya had garnered everyone's attention with their respective performances.
Over the years, Salman has played a massive role in launching several actors in Hindi cinema. Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut with Veer, while Sonakshi Sinha was introduced in Dabangg. Daisy Shah made her acting debut with Jai Ho, while Saiee Manjrekar entered Bollywood with Dabangg 3. Salman has also launched Warina Hussain and his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma with Loveyatri.
Whether Salman will formally produce Shera's son Abir's Tarzan, however, remains unverified.
On the film front, Salman currently has Maatrubhumi and SVC63 in his pipeline. Maatrubhumi, helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, was earlier slated to arrive in cinemas in April this year. The release was apparently pushed, and a new date has not been announced yet.
Meanwhile, SVC63 is currently in post-production. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film also stars Nayanthara and is scheduled for an Eid release next year.
