Playback singer Sonu Nigam has revealed that he deleted Instagram and Facebook from his phone more than a year ago, saying social media had become a major distraction in his life. Sharing two videos on Instagram on his birthday, the singer thanked fans for their wishes but explained why he would not be able to respond personally.
"I don't have Instagram and Facebook apps on my phone. It's been more than a year. I deleted them because I was wasting a lot of time on them," Nigam said. He added that he no longer feels the need to keep up with what people think or say about him. "I'm old enough right now to just chill. I should bother about my own health, my own practice. I should practise, take care of my fitness, and focus on myself," he said.
The singer also shared that he has embraced a more spiritual outlook. "I don't even want to know what people are saying about me. I'm already in surrender mode. I've got in touch with God. I'm in a very happy zone," he said.
Thanking fans for their birthday wishes, the singer said he may hear about their messages but would not be able to reply because he no longer uses the apps. "Please take my gratitude. Thank you for your love," he added.
