Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan starrer spy action comedy Udta Teer was released in theatres on October 23. The film garnered mixed reviews from viewers, with some calling it a good family entertainer, while others feel it's a 'timepass.' The narrative centres on a Pakistani spy who forgets his past and later comes to believe he is an Indian operative.
The confused identity seemed to spark much of the comedy, showing Ayushmann in yet another unconventional role following a string of socially driven narratives and comedies. Here are the first reviews of the film on X; scroll down to read!
One viewer tweeted, "#Udtateer - Ayushman Khurrana's comedy angle and patriotic angle are really very good. The director Akash has tried to show this in a very good way. #MukulDev and #RahulBose look like very funny characters. The public was very happy watching it; they were enjoying it a lot. If you are getting bored, then go and watch this film. Book your tickets and watch this film, but I guarantee you will not get bored. #SaraAliKhan will be seen as #AyushmanKhurana wife in the film, will be seen as #AyushmanKhurana wife in the film, as we have seen in the trailer. So the film can be very good; book your tickets."
Another viewer hailed Udta Teer's climax, drawing comparison with Drishyam and Dhurandhar 2. The tweet reads, "#UdtaTeer Review- A LAUGH RIOT WITH A KNOCKOUT CLIMAX. Rating: 4 stars. Udta Teer is one of the most unique, entertaining and intelligently written and directed films of 2026. You can call it a spy comedy that consistently succeeds in making the audience laugh. The first half is hilarious, while the second half takes an interesting turn. The final 20 minutes and climax deliver twists that can be compared to the likes of #Dhurandhar2 and #Drishyam. The climax is terrific, and audiences with a sound understanding of geopolitics will find it even more rewarding."
One reviewer wrote, "#UdtaTeerFirstReview 2.5/5 [star] It's a good, one-time watch comedy movie! Strictly for Timepass." Another viewer tweeted, "TRULY SPEAKING and DILSE SPEAKING #UdtaTeer is AYUSHMANN KHURRANA's BEST FILM POST PANDEMIC and ONE OF THE BEST FILMS from Bollywood. The Comedy Of errors actually worked as it made everyone laughed without even trying, the controlled goosebumps, deshbhakti factors, #RahulBose & #MukulDev are RIOT.. YE MISS KIA TO SBKCH MISS KIA !! PURI FAMILY KE SATH JAO DEKHNE.. A MUST MUST WATCH with Family."
