Still from Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai trailer
The trailer of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has finally been unveiled, promising a rollercoaster of comedy, romance and chaos in classic David Dhawan style. During the trailer launch event, lead actor Varun Dhawan opened up about recreating the iconic song Chunari Chunari, originally featuring Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen.
Talking about recreating the popular track alongside Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, Varun said the experience was "definitely exciting."
The actor revealed that the team first heard the recreated version of the song while shooting in Scotland. Praising producer Ramesh Taurani, Varun said, "Ramesh created the song beautifully. All the songs were made by Ramesh, while the music company handled the production side."
Speaking about the challenge of recreating such an iconic track, Varun explained that the focus was on staying true to the situation within the film rather than simply copying the original.
"The challenge was about committing to the song and the situation in the film. In our movie, the context in which the song appears is completely different because it's a comedy film," he shared.
He further hinted that the song plays out amid a humorous "double trouble" scenario involving confusion between two women, which becomes a major source of comedy in the film.
Adding to the excitement, Varun also teased that another actress might make an appearance during the climax sequence, though he refrained from revealing the name.
The trailer opens with Varun enjoying a romantic moment with his wife, played by Mrunal Thakur. However, things soon take a wrong turn as the couple reaches the court for a divorce. Mrunal's character is apparently done with the excessive attention and affection showered on her by Varun, who is also desperate to embrace fatherhood.
Amidst all this, Varun meets Pooja Hegde's character and falls for her as well. As luck would have it, the man who was eager to become a parent ends up becoming the father of both Mrunal and Pooja's children.
Directed by David Dhawan, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai brings together Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur and Maniesh Paul for the first time. The romantic comedy is slated to release in theatres on June 5, 2026.
