Bollywood actor Aamir Khan met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at his Mumbai residence, Shivtirth, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his nephew, actor Imran Khan, who has challenged a notice directing him to leave India.

The purpose of the meeting remains unclear, with neither Aamir nor Raj publicly commenting on the discussions. However, the timing of their meeting has sparked speculation about whether it could be connected to Imran's legal battle over his Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) status.

According to reports, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Mumbai issued Imran a notice directing him to leave India by October 28, 2026. The actor has approached the Bombay High Court, challenging the notice.

Aamir and Raj are known to share a friendly relationship, and photographs of their interactions have surfaced on social media in the past. However, no official information is available about the reason for their latest meeting, and any link to Imran's case remains speculative.

The development comes amid heightened attention surrounding Imran's participation in a protest in Mumbai earlier this month. The actor and his girlfriend, Lekha Washington, were detained during a demonstration organised by Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Raj Thackeray has also voiced his views on Gyanesh Kumar, adding another dimension to speculation surrounding the meeting. However, there has been no confirmation that the MNS chief's views or the protest were discussed during Aamir's visit.

Why was Imran Khan detained?

On October 10, Imran and Lekha arrived at Mumbai's August Kranti Maidan to participate in the CJP protest against Gyanesh Kumar. Both were detained during the incident. Following their detention, former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya approached the Mumbai Police, seeking an inquiry into Imran's participation in the demonstration.

The matter subsequently drew further attention after Imran received the FRRO notice directing him to leave India. He has challenged the order before the Bombay High Court, and the case has brought his immigration status into focus.

For now, the circumstances surrounding Aamir's meeting with Raj remain undisclosed. Until either of them clarifies the purpose of the visit, any connection between the meeting and Imran's legal proceedings remains unconfirmed.
