Veteran actress Zeenat Aman shared a heartfelt Raksha Bandhan social media tribute dedicated to her late on-screen brother, Dev Anand, recalling their iconic sibling dynamic from the 1971 classic Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Amid the post, she even recalled where the film was shot and expressed concern for citizens of Nepal amid the floods.
The veteran actress took to her Instagram handle sharing the long note. At first, she recalled the sibling bond with Dev Anand, "If there's one joy I have missed in my life, it's that of having a sibling. As a girl I always saw the sisters and brothers around me, and yearned for a sibling myself. I knew early on that I would have two children so that they would each have the other to turn to."
Zeenat further shared an interesting trivia about the film and the siblings bond, "So, in celebration of all you siblings and the special bond that you share, a snippet of a much-loved song from Hare Rama Hare Krishna. A movie that ended tragically but at its core was about the bond between a brother and sister."
She also highlighted the Nepal floods while sharing that they shot the film in Nepal and expressed her concern for all the citizens who have been affected by the floods there, "We shot this film almost entirely in Nepal, and I can not sign off today without expressing my concern for the citizens of Nepal, and all those who have been impacted by the devastating floods. Those of you who can, please consider supporting authorised relief efforts that are underway."
Actress Manasi Parekh also shared her experience as she nearly escaped the floods. She shared the pictures and wrote, "I was literally welcomed at this spot five days ago. So warmly! And now the whole place is submerged." She further added, "Life is uncertain, but what has happened is absolutely heartbreaking. We are constantly praying for the people affected by this tragedy. By God's grace, we are safe in China, and Isha Foundation is doing its best to get us back home, as well as find those who are in the midst of the floods. Please keep praying for everyone's well-being."
Talking about the floods, Nepal is battling a devastating flash-flood disaster after a glacier collapse near the Nepal-China border triggered torrents of water, ice, mud and debris through Himalayan river systems. The disaster has killed hundreds and many have been reported missing as of August 28. Several villages, roads, bridges and other infrastructure have been destroyed, while rescue teams continue searching for survivors in difficult terrain.
