Tom Cruise's popular character Ethan Hunt, who is no stranger to dangerous missions and disadvantageous situations, faced his last setback before the India release of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. mid-day has learnt that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested significant audio modifications before granting a UA 13+ certificate to the action franchise's eighth instalment.

According to sources, the CBFC has muted multiple English expletives, including words like ‘bastards' and ‘bitch'. A source revealed, "The film was largely approved without visual cuts, but words considered inappropriate for the younger audience were muted or replaced. It's a standard process for Hollywood tentpole movies aiming for a wider Indian audience."

This isn't the first time the CBFC has asked for dialogue changes in major Hollywood films, a recent example being Thunderbolts. Viacom18 Studios, which is bringing the Cruise-starrer to India, agreed to the changes without contest. The insider added, "The goal was to secure a UA 13+ rating to ensure maximum reach. Tom Cruise's films have a dedicated fanbase in India, and these changes won't hurt its appeal."
