BTS member Jungkook's stalker has avoided a jail term after a South Korean court handed a suspended sentence to a Brazilian woman who repeatedly visited and trespassed near the singer's residence.
According to reports from South Korean media, the woman was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years, after being found guilty of violating the country's anti-stalking laws and trespassing regulations. The ruling means she will not serve time behind bars immediately unless she commits another offence during the suspension period.
The case stems from a series of incidents that took place between December 2025 and January 2026. Prosecutors stated that the woman visited Jungkook's home in Seoul 22 times, lingering around the property and monitoring the area. Authorities said her actions went far beyond ordinary fan behaviour and constituted stalking under South Korean law.
One of the most alarming incidents reportedly occurred when she repeatedly rang the doorbell at Jungkook's residence. Investigators also found that she managed to enter the building by following a delivery worker through an access point. She was subsequently arrested while attempting to gain access to the property.
Following her arrest, police issued an emergency protective order prohibiting her from approaching within 100 metres of Jungkook or his home. However, authorities said she continued to ignore the restrictions. Reports indicate that she later returned to the area and left photographs and printed materials near the residence, leading to additional concerns about the singer's safety and privacy.
During the trial, the court acknowledged that the victim wanted strict punishment. However, the judge reportedly considered factors including the absence of evidence suggesting an intent to physically harm Jungkook and deemed some violations of the protective order relatively minor. As a result, the court opted for a suspended sentence rather than immediate imprisonment.
The verdict has sparked discussion among BTS fans, many of whom have expressed concerns over celebrity safety and the growing issue of obsessive fan behaviour. Jungkook has previously faced multiple privacy breaches and stalking incidents, with supporters continuing to call for stronger protections for artists.
