BTS leader RM has appealed to fans to stop gathering outside the hotels where the group is staying during its Latin America tour, saying the crowds and noise are affecting the members' rest. In a message posted on Weverse on October 8, the singer addressed ARMY in Lima, Peru, and requested that they respect the group's privacy and the comfort of other hotel guests.
RM acknowledged the excitement surrounding BTS' first visit to Peru but said the situation had become difficult for the members and their staff. He also extended his appeal to fans at the group's upcoming tour stops.
Welcoming fans in Peru, RM wrote, "Hello, Latin America, we are now in Peru. It's my first time coming to Peru, so I'm really excited and happy." However, he explained that fans gathering outside the group's accommodation had made it difficult for everyone to get adequate sleep. According to the singer, the problem had begun during the group's previous stop in Colombia and continued in Lima.
"Right now, because of the people who stay stationed in front of our hotel all day long, the members and staff are having a really tough time. It's so noisy that it's reaching all the way inside the rooms, and no one has been able to get a good night's sleep," he said.
BTS RM added that the crowds were also inconveniencing other people staying at the property. While expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, he emphasised that rest was essential before the group's performances. "We are truly grateful for your warm welcome and enthusiasm, but if we do not get enough rest and sleep, it will affect the performances we are able to present to you," he wrote. Recently, he launched his first-ever museum exhibition with his personal collection.
The singer asked fans not to gather outside the group's hotels in the remaining Latin American destinations, including Chile, Brazil and Argentina. He also extended the request to the Asian countries on the tour schedule. Addressing ARMY directly, RM expressed confidence that fans would understand the need for boundaries between the group and its supporters.
"I hope ARMYs, the coolest fans in the world, will understand, and I believe and hope they will. I hope we can become a more mature relationship," he wrote. The large crowd in Lima may also have been influenced by a fan-organised drone show reportedly planned near the Larcomar shopping centre in the Miraflores district. According to accounts shared on X, the event had been announced weeks earlier and coincided with a national public holiday. The location was reportedly close to BTS' hotel, bringing large numbers of people into the surrounding area.
BTS RM ended his message by promising to give his best at the performance and thanking fans for their continued support. Signing off in Spanish, he wrote, "Thank you and love you, always."
