BTS member V recently opened up about a health concern he has been dealing with for more than two years. During a recent livestream on Weverse with fellow member Jungkook, the singer revealed that his hearing has deteriorated and that he is currently undergoing treatment for the issue.
V, 30, shared that he had never spoken about the problem publicly with ARMY before. He explained that he believes the issue began around two and a half years ago and has gradually worsened. "I've never told ARMY about this before, but I think it's been about two and a half years. My hearing has gotten worse," V said during the livestream.
The BTS star also described a significant difference between the hearing ability in his two ears. Explaining the extent of the problem, he said, "If one ear is at about 100, I can only hear about 30 with the other."
Jungkook, who was with V during the livestream, encouraged him to take his health seriously and follow his treatment regularly. V confirmed that he is currently taking medication for his hearing problem.
The singer also revealed that his hearing became noticeably worse while he was serving in the military. However, he initially did not give the issue the attention it required. Instead, V said he tried to convince himself that he could overcome the problem through mental strength. "It got a little worse in the military, and since I was surrounded by people who exercised a lot, everyone said, âIt's a matter of mental strength. After that, I kind of convinced myself that it was a matter of mental strength," he said.
V's revelation has given fans a rare glimpse into a personal health challenge he had kept private. The singer completed his mandatory military service before reuniting with the other BTS members for their group activities.
The disclosure also came during a livestream in which Jungkook opened up about his own physical health. He revealed that he has been experiencing severe pain in his shin, which has made performing increasingly difficult. According to the report, Jung Kook said the injury was close to developing into a stress fracture, although BTS has continued with its performances.
V's candid comments have prompted concern among fans, particularly because hearing is an important part of his career as a singer. His decision to speak openly about the issue has also highlighted the importance of taking persistent health concerns seriously rather than dismissing them.
As BTS continues its activities, V is now receiving treatment for his hearing problem, while fans remain hopeful that he will prioritise his recovery alongside his professional commitments.
