Kannada actor Mayur Patel has reportedly been taken into custody by the Bengaluru police in connection with a drunk driving case. A complaint was filed against him at the Hoysala Police Station, and the actor was taken into custody in the early hours of January 29, 2026.
According to a report by Times Now, Mayur was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when his speeding Fortuner SUV rammed into a parked car on the streets of Bengaluru. The accident occurred around 10 pm on Old Airport Road near the Commando Hospital signal in the city. Patel rammed into a car waiting at the traffic signal. The rear-end collision resulted in a multi-car crash involving four other vehicles. Several vehicles, including a government car, were damaged in the incident. The authorities traced the trail of accidents back to the actor's vehicle.

The incident was reported to the police by two car owners whose vehicles were damaged during the said accident. The car owners who called the police control room were identified as Srinivas and Abhishek. Mayur was immediately taken into custody and underwent a medical examination, which confirmed alcohol consumption. An FIR has been registered against him, and his vehicle has been seized. It was also found that the vehicle did not have valid insurance at the time of the accident. Further investigation is underway.
Mayur Patel is an actor and filmmaker associated mainly with the Kannada film industry. He began his acting journey in the early 2000s and came into the spotlight with Mani (2003). While the film did not achieve commercial success, his performance was widely appreciated by critics.
Over the years, Mayur has taken on diverse roles in Kannada cinema. His filmography includes the romantic drama Love Story (2005), the action film Gunna (2005), the crime-based Slum (2013), and Muniya (2009). He further showcased his versatility in Rajeeva (2020), where he played dual characters, and was most recently seen in the 2024 release Pepe.
