Jasmin Bhasin
Actor Jasmin Bhasin has opened up about one of the darkest phases of her career, revealing the emotional toll the casting couch culture once took on her. She reveals how a director locked her and tried to misbehave with her during early audition days. The actress also alerts aspiring actors about the fake casting calls that lure girls into this trap.
In a conversation on The Himanshu Mehta Show, Jasmin Bhasin recalled one of the most shocking incidents of her life. She said, "I had come to Bombay for auditions and all in a hotel in Juhu, there was this meeting, a lot of girls, actresses were there waiting in the lobby, there were many coordinators, so everybody was going, doing a meeting."
She added, "And then I went for the meeting, first of all, I got scared seeing a man having a drink and telling me audition, and even the coordinator also left the room. So first, I got scared. After that, he told me, âYou have to do this scene.' So I told him, âI will prepare and come back tomorrow.' He said, "No, no, you have to do it now." So I did it."
"He told me, "No, not like this." I mean, he was basically telling me to stand up and... he told me a scene, for example, "Your lover is going, you have to stop him." So I did that. He said, "No, not like this." You have to... he locked me and kind of... he was trying to do something else, but okay, then I used my skills and I ran off from there. So that happened. And that day, I decided, okay, no meetings are happening in a hotel room, never in life, never," the actress shared.
Sharing her opinion, the actress remarks, " I would say it, it does exists, but, people, those who are doing casting calls, they are actually not casting, they are not casting directors, they are some useless people who are just doing it for their sake."
On the work front, she was last seen in reality show The Traitors. The Karan Johar-hosted show also had contestants like Karan Kundrra, Jannat Zubair, Anshula Kapoor, Sufi Motiwala, Apoorva and others.
