Some netizens claimed that Alia was allegedly "ignored" by photographers on the Cannes red carpet. For the unaware, the festival red carpet is lined with designated photographers who capture every celebrity making an appearance. Certain viral clips from Alia's red carpet walk led some users to speculate that photographers did not recognise the actress.

Amid the trolling, Aly Goni came out in Alia's support and strongly called out the negativity.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, Aly shared a clip of Alia posing confidently on the Cannes red carpet. Responding to the trolling, he wrote, "It's sad when our own people try to pull down someone who has worked so hard to put India on the global stage. Alia Bhatt has reached places many only dream of, representing our country at Cannes with grace and pride."

He further added, "Instead of mocking and trolling, we should celebrate and support those who make India shine internationally. We rise higher when we uplift our own, not when we try to demean them."

About Alia Bhatt's Cannes 2026 looks

Alia made a striking appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival in a custom coral silk couture gown by British designer Tamara Ralph. Attending the festival as India's global ambassador for L'Oréal Paris, the actress made an impactful opening-day statement.

She later embraced Indian craftsmanship in a custom creation by Tarun Tahiliani, featuring an ivory Chanderi dhoti skirt paired with a sculpted corset. She completed the look with traditional adornments including a payal, nath, bindi, and hath phool, giving her Cannes appearance a deeply rooted cultural touch.

For her Day 2 red carpet appearance, Alia chose a powder blue gown that highlighted her graceful presence and sophisticated fashion sensibility.

The prestigious Cannes Film Festival, held in Cannes, officially began on May 12 and will continue until May 23.
