Hina Khan recalls telling Rocky Jaiswal to marry someone else during cancer battle: 'It was a very rough patch'

Hina Khan has opened up about one of the most difficult phases of her relationship with husband Rocky Jaiswal, recalling how she once asked him to marry someone else during her cancer battle. The actor said their relationship was tested not because of compatibility issues or frequent disagreements, but because of the real-life crises they faced together.

Hina discussed the challenging period on her podcast, POV, while reflecting on her relationship with Rocky. The couple, who had been together for more than 13 years before tying the knot, got married in an intimate ceremony in June 2025. Hina was undergoing treatment for stage 3 breast cancer around the time of their wedding.

Speaking about the difficult phase, Hina said, "We are not in that space where we fight; we have been in real-life crises." She revealed that there were moments during her health struggles when she encouraged Rocky to move on and marry someone else.

"There were times when I told him, ‘You should marry someone else,'" Hina recalled, explaining that she believed many aspects of their life together might not remain the same. According to the actor, this was when their love was truly tested.

Hina clarified that she was not deliberately testing Rocky or trying to prove his commitment. Instead, she said she wanted him to have the life and happiness he deserved, even if it meant that she would not be a part of it.

"If he had chosen that path, I would have been happy for him because his happiness mattered more to me than being with him," she said.

On Rocky Jaiswal's support

Rocky chose to remain by Hina's side throughout her health battle. Describing his support, Hina said he stayed with her through "thick and thin" during what she called "a very rough patch".

The actor credited him for helping her navigate the difficult period, saying, "Anyone who was around me then knew that I was able to get through that time only because of him. He made it look like a cakewalk."

Hina also addressed speculation that the couple's wedding was planned as a publicity stunt because they later appeared together on the reality show Pati, Patni Aur Panga. Dismissing the claims, she said, "I really don't care what people say; we know the reality."

Explaining why they married when they did, Hina said they had already decided on the wedding months earlier. "We got married because we didn't know about tomorrow. We had even decided the date well in advance," she said.

Hina and Rocky first met on the sets of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, where she played Akshara and he worked as a supervising producer. Their professional association eventually turned into a relationship spanning over a decade before they became husband and wife.
