Mohanlal
For the last seven years, fans of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal have a date with him every year on their small screens courtesy Bigg Boss. Mohanlal brings good news to his fans, as the actor has revealed that he will remain the face of the reality show for a few more years, at least.
Mohanlal, who earlier announced Bigg Boss 8 eight at the end of the seventh season in August, made the revelation on late Tuesday evening as he attended the announcement of JioHotstar'a South slate for 2026. Mohanlal was joined on stage by actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Vijay Sethupathi, who host Bigg Boss Telugu and Tamil respectively.
The senior star said he was initially reluctant to host the reality TV show, but today he is addicted to it. "The show brings people together. And I am so lucky to be a part of it. I was a little hesitant to be a part of that show. But later, it became like an addiction. And they (JioHotstar) have signed for a few more," Mohanlal said amid loud cheers.
Further praising the show, the actor said that Bigg Boss also served as a launchpad for many careers. "Why is it such a big hit? It is not drama. It is a beautiful show of positiveness. I believe that show carries lot of entertainment, a lot of emotions, discipline. It is a beautiful platform for those who have got that kind of talent. It can enhance their abilities. Most of the contestants coming out of the Big Boss show become stars. So, in 100 days, you are becoming a star," he said.
Thanking the audience for consuming the show season after season, Mohanlal said he has also taken note of the criticism that the series has received.
"It is an escape to the audience from the stress because they are also enjoying. There's also criticism and we can (take it) and move forward."
