As the controversy surrounding the viral ‘Rs 370 biryani' clip continues to draw criticism on social media, comedian Pranit More has seemingly deactivated his Instagram account. The former Bigg Boss 19 participant had earlier issued an apology for laughing off the comment made by an audience member.

Pranit More deactivates his Instagram account

Many users who tried searching for Pranit More's profile reported that his official account is currently inaccessible, with no visible activity, followers, or following. Although the comedian has not issued a statement addressing the status of his account, the move comes amid escalating backlash over how he handled the situation in the now-deleted clip from one of his recent stand-up shows.

Several influencers and social media users have heavily criticised Pranit's decision to upload the video and amplify the interaction. They even argued that he should have challenged the audience member's remarks instead of treating them as a humorous moment. The backlash continued to intensify despite Pranit More issuing a public apology. Additionally, the audience member who made the remark also issued an apology.

About the controversy

The controversy erupted after Pranit uploaded a now-deleted video from one of his stand-up performances, in which an audience member shared details of a past dating experience. The member identified as Himanshu Jangra shared that after he had a biryani worth Rs 370 with a girl, she asked him to drop her off, which surprised him. Jangra said he paid Rs 370 for a meal, and he deserves a "return" on his investment, which he meant physical intimacy. Himanshu said, "Maine kaha ki Rs 370 lage hain to use to wasool to karunga hi."

As the clip circulated online, many users condemned the remarks, calling them problematic and misogynistic. Amid the backlash, Pranit even issued an apology on his Instagram handle.

The apology read, "I've seen the criticism regarding a recent crowdwork clip. The comments made by the audience member do not reflect my views. Looking back, I should have challenged the remark instead of laughing and moving on. That was a lapse in judgment on my part. Live crowdwork often involves reacting in real time, but that's not an excuse. I take the feedback seriously and will be more thoughtful in how I handle similar situations going forward. We've also removed the video from all our platforms, as I don't want to amplify or normalise those views. I appreciate everyone who raised their concerns respectfully."

He added, "I sincerely apologise for whatever happened, and I'll take this lesson forward. I'm human, and like anyone else, I'm constantly learning. Being called out when I get something wrong doesn't make me smaller but it helps me grow. I accept that I could have handled this better, and I'll be more mindful that I never unintentionally support or normalise such views in the future."
