India`s Got Latent season 2 pic via Instagram
Samay Raina has responded to an unverified social media claim surrounding the latest episode of India's Got Latent with a joke. The comedian reposted the claim on his Instagram story, which made an allegation about a reported backstage incident following a joke involving casting director Mukesh Chhabra's girlfriend. Raina responded with a reference to Shaktimaan and comedian Sunil Pal.
He wrote on Instagram, "After this, Shaktimaan came, and we all said sorry, Shaktimaan, and then proceeded to do the show after touching Sunil Pal's feet."
The claim surfaced after the latest season 2 episode, which featured Chhabra alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhuvan Bam and comedian Kaustubh Agarwal. During the epsiode, Raina took several digs at Chhabra and his career. Chhabra also brought up his girlfriend at one point, while discussing how she might respond to the jokes aimed at him.
"My girlfriend must be watching. What must she think of me?" Chhabra said. Raina quickly turned that into another punchline. "You have a girlfriend as well? Which film is she going to feature in?" he asked.
The joke prompted laughter from the panel and audience, but an unverified claim later became the subject of discussion on social media.
A post allegedly shared by an audience member claimed that Mukesh was upset by the girlfriend joke, following which the shoot was reportedly paused for around 15 minutes. The post further claimed that Bhuvan Bam had to intervene to calm things down and alleged this was why Raina appeared to make fewer jokes about Chhabra later in the episode.
The girlfriend joke wasn't the only moment from the episode that became a topic of discussion. Raina also mocked Nawazuddin Siddiqui over his appearance in Thamma, asking the actor why he said yes to the film.
Also, an Amitabh Bachchan mimicry act led to a reference of Rekha from Bhuvan Bam. Chhabra then joked about Bam, telling him, "Son, your film career has only just begun, my dear."
There were several moments on the show featuring lighthearted exchanges between the panellists, but it was the Chhabra segment that eventually became the most-viral moment itself.
