Karan Johar has announced the ninth season of Koffee With Karan, revealing that the upcoming edition will be the talk show's final season. In an emotional video, the filmmaker reflected on its journey, memorable guests and controversies, while also acknowledging the enduring love for the show. Season 9 will premiere on October 14 on JioHotstar.

In an emotional video announcement, Karan shared an emotional message rather than a professional announcement this time. He recalled telling his dad about wanting to have a talk show, and his idea was to call his friends and have candid chats. He then broke down in tears, remembering how his dad passed away that month.

He went on to mention how some guests arrived as friends and left as family, some found love, some became ex-lovers, and some got married. KJo continued, "I nearly put an end to the careers of national icons. I'm living with the word nepotism even today. Conjecture became a kind of a national word. So much happened. And everywhere I go, fortunately or unfortunately, I don't know what to say, but I'm always asked, when's the next season of Coffee with Karan."

Announcing the final season of the talk show, he rued, "I reached a point in my life where I realised that all good things have to come to an end. With a kind of a heavy heart, I have to say that this will be my very last season of Coffee with Karan. There will be trolls, there will be comments, there will be posts, and I'm ready to take that on. But within all of that and beneath all of that, I know there is still abundant love for this cup of coffee."

The show, which last aired in 2024, has completed eight seasons and more than 150 episodes since its debut in 2004. Over the years, it has become known for its candid celebrity conversations, rapid-fire rounds and unexpected revelations. As per an unverified Reddit list, Diljit Dosanjh shares the couch with Vicky Kaushal.

The rumoured list also includes newer faces. Saiyaara stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda are said to be among the guests, while Ananya Panday and Shanaya Kapoor could make for another much-discussed episode. According to a report, Alia Bhatt is expected to appear this season, with her sister Shaheen Bhatt joining her. Meanwhile, Salman Khan is likely to make a solo appearance in the premiere episode.
