Television actor Gaurav Khanna has finally responded to the growing buzz surrounding his marriage with Akanksha Chamola after several reports claimed that the couple had already divorced. Setting the record straight, the actor clarified that while they have decided to separate, they are still legally married.
The speculation intensified after Akanksha, who is currently seen on Lock Upp, revealed on the reality show that she and Gaurav had been living separately for almost a year and had mutually decided to end their marriage. Her statement led many on social media to believe that the divorce had already been finalized.
Reacting to the rumours, Gaurav dismissed the claims and urged people not to spread misinformation.
"Wo keh rahe hain ye fake hai. We are still legally married," Gaurav said, adding that people were confusing separation with divorce. When Farah asked Gaurav whether he knew about Akanksha's sexuality, he said, 'All I wanted is to accept the person I love." Akanksha revealed that she had already told Gaurav about it. And he had accepted it.
The actor further explained that the legal process is still underway and requested fans to avoid jumping to conclusions. According to him, personal matters should not be judged based on assumptions circulating online.
Despite the separation, Gaurav maintained that there is no bitterness between him and Akanksha. He emphasized that they continue to have respect for one another and that the decision to part ways was taken mutually.
Earlier on Lock Upp, Akanksha had spoken candidly about their relationship and revealed that they had been living separately for nearly a year before deciding to end their marriage.
"We have been living separately for almost a year. We mutually decided that this marriage wasn't working anymore," she had shared on the show.
The actress also clarified that there was no major fight or controversy behind the decision. Instead, she explained that they gradually realized they wanted different things from life and were no longer compatible as partners.
Akanksha had further revealed that even after deciding to separate, she and Gaurav continue to share an amicable bond and wish the best for each other. She also admitted that she is in no hurry to begin a new relationship, saying she wants to focus on herself and enjoy her independence after spending several years as a married woman.
While social media continues to speculate about their relationship, Gaurav's latest statement makes it clear that reports claiming the couple is already divorced are inaccurate. As of now, the two remain legally married, even though they have chosen to move forward separately.
