Still from Spider-Noir
Prime Video's upcoming series Spider-Noir brings the world of Spider-Man into a darker, moodier space, following a black-and-white noir style reminiscent of classic detective stories blended with comic-book energy. Led by Nicolas Cage in his first television project, the series embraces sharp shadows, heightened drama and pulpy storytelling.
Speaking about what drew him to the project, Nicolas Cage said, "I had been imagining a performance presentation for quite some time. It's no secret that I'm influenced by different art forms, and I had been largely influenced by the pop art of Warhol and Lichtenstein."
He further added, "Just as in Wild at Heart, when I drew on Warhol, I thought it would be interesting to do a Lichtenstein-style performance - utilising comic-book energy and fusing it with a classic black-and-white style of film acting. And lo and behold, along came Spider-Noir."
Cage also explained why the episodic television format appealed to him. "My interests were predominantly cinema-based; however, when I learned Spider-Noir would be episodic television, I thought that format would lend itself well to my concept since comic books are inherently episodic," he shared.
Apart from Nicolas Cage, the series also stars Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson in key roles.
In an interview with mid-day, talking about Nicolas Cage, Morris said, "I was nervous before I met him. I didn't know what to expect. So, I was careful about how I approached it because I can be a bit silly. And the cool thing about Nick is that he will match your silly. I didn't know that. He's the most prepared and giving actor that I've ever worked with. So when he gets there, he already knows what he's going to do. But then you improvise something and you see how quick he is. He can immediately respond with something off the cuff, non-scripted because he's following you. And that's the sign of a great actor who's truly listening. He gave me the licence to be free."
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for Prime Video and MGM+. Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer directed and executive-produced the first two episodes.
Spider-Noir premieres on May 27, 2026, on Prime Video across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The series will stream in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam in both black-and-white and full-colour versions.
