The scrutiny Rhea Chakraborty faced following Sushant Singh Rajput's demise continues to have an impact on her. Now, while participating in The Traitors 2, Rhea opened up about the years she spent under suspicion, recalling how difficult it was to constantly be questioned and judged.
When Karan asked Rhea whether she wanted to be an innocent or a traitor to survive in the show, she said, "I want to be an innocent. Iss saal hi actually mujhe clean chit mila hain, iss saal hi logo ko pata chala hai ki mai innocent hoon. Bohot der tak shaq mein rahi hoon toh woh itna pasand nahi hai ab mujhe. Kaafi saal kar liya hai maine (I have got the clean chit this year itself. People have realised that I am an innocent. I have been under the doubt for a long time, and I don't like that feeling. I have been there for years)."
The actress and entrepreneur was at the centre of intense public scrutiny following Rajput's death in June 2020 and spent nearly a month in Mumbai's Byculla Jail after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a separate drug-related case. She was arrested by the NCB in September 2020 and was granted bail by the Bombay High Court in October that year.
In 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officially cleared Rhea Chakraborty and her family of all charges, submitting a closure report stating there was no evidence of abetment to suicide, illegal confinement, financial fraud, or foul play in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rhea recently appeared on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi's show. The actress got candid about her trauma with the NCB probe and Sushant Singh Rajput's demise. Looking back at that difficult chapter, Rhea said the impact of the ordeal has never fully disappeared. Her brother, Showik Chakraborty, who also faced legal proceedings during the investigation, shared that he continues to deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
After a hiatus of more than four years, Rhea Chakraborty is all set to make her acting comeback with Hansal Mehta's Family Business, also starring Anil Kapoor, Vijay Varma and others. The actress was last seen in the 2021 film Chehre, alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi.
She is currently a part of The Traitors Season 2, and the show started on a promising note, with Munawar Faruqui, Dalip Tahil, Harman Singha and Karan Singh Magic becoming the first bunch to get eliminated in the first week.
