Undekhi 4 got even more layered with the entry of Gautam Rode, who brings a fresh dynamic to the already intense world of the Atwals. In an exclusive conversation with Mid-Day, the actor opened up about his character, its unique position in the storyline, and how certain moments on set struck a personal chord with him.
Talking about his role, Gautam described his character as someone caught in the middle of chaos rather than being driven by revenge. He explained, "Actually, that's the correct word for me. The character is stuck in between them. He's a hotelier who needs finances for his whole expansion plan and then he gets stuck between two parties. Mahi and Rinku's party and Papaji's and Daman's party."
He further teased a deeper connection to the central family, adding, "And I have an indirect relation with Atwals. That will come to know when you see the season. And how I try to get out of it or play along with them is my character all about." Unlike other characters in the series, his motivations are not rooted in vengeance. As he put it, "There's no revenge from my side. Revenge, revenge. But I'm stuck between their revenge. Between taking from each other and trying to kill each other."
Beyond the high-stakes drama, Gautam also shared a heartwarming anecdote about a scene that reminded him of his daughter. Recalling the moment, he said, "Now she started doing that. This scene happened when we shot in September. She was very young that time. Now she'll be turning three. Now she started painting and doing all of that. But once you do such scenes, you are reminded of your kids. Yeah, completely. Having fun with both of them." The emotional connection added a personal layer to his performance, making the experience even more meaningful.
Apart from acting, Gautam revealed that he is also exploring storytelling from behind the camera. He shared, "I've written a script. I'm producing that. Working on that basically. It's all about what do you want to do what kind of subjects, what kind of stories you want to tell." Emphasising the importance of taking initiative, he added, "If they are being offered to you it's a different thing. If you want to make something then you've got to go out there and make it for yourself. The kind of subjects that you want to make."
With new characters, intersecting motives, and personal stakes, Undekhi 4 promises a compelling mix of tension and emotion, and Gautam Rode's entry is set to add another intriguing layer to the story.
