Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, who is known for his witty personality and infectious energy, recently took to social media to share a reel documenting his experience trying what he called "the most expensive coffee of London".

The mini vlog starts with him reaching the cafe and reading the menu. He chooses the ‘Japan Typica Natural' coffee priced at £265, which converts to approximately Rs 30,580.

The high price of the coffee invites a humorous statement from Dosanjh. "At the price of this coffee, I can attend a wedding in India," he says in Punjabi.

Watch the video here:

According to the menu, this coffee, reported to be London's most expensive, is produced in a family-run estate in Okinawa, Japan, and reflects the Japanese value of striving for perfection. It has fruity and juicy notes.

As the video progresses, one can see a barista preparing the coffee, while the actor-singer keeps the laughs coming. "Even after taking so much money, they are particular about the measurements. I won't eat anything now and will only drink this. Each sip is worth Rs 7000," he quips.

While the coffee is being prepared, a staffer informs him that these are pure coffee beans from Japan and have not been mixed with any other beans.

Preparation of coffee

As shown in the video, the brewing process is a spectacle and would definitely appeal to coffee connoisseurs. Hot water is poured over the ground coffee beans and the brew drips into the glass through a golden filter.

While the preparation process is appealing, Dosanjh seems unimpressed. He takes a sip and humorously remarks, "Yeh toh pheeki hai (this is bland)."

What is the Japan Typica coffee?

Typica is a sub-variety of Arabica coffee, which is one of the most culturally and historically important varieties of coffee in the world. Typica is generally characterised by mildly sweet and balanced flavours. Japan is not a major coffee-growing area. Perhaps that is what makes the Japan Typica coffee rare and pricey.

Diljit Dosanjh's love for coffee

This is not the first time coffee has featured in Dosanjh's social media feed. The singer has often professed his love for the beverage. He had earlier shared a video of him having coffee and breakfast at a restaurant and wrote "I am in love with the coffee" in the caption. When he was touring India for the Dil-Luminati tour last year, he even visited the iconic 148-year-old Indian Coffee House in Kolkata.
