New on the block

Edobo is an online grocery store that delivers across Mumbai, parts of Thane and Navi Mumbai. They started operations in October last year. Every item is UV sanitised before packing. When we recently tried the app, we noticed there are multiple delivery slots in a day and also a quick 30-minute express doorstep delivery. We were impressed with the update we received from their customer care to tell us the approximate time of delivery. They have a store coming up in Chembur this month.

Natural choice

When we heard that Vnya had launched its online store in August last year, we did a little jig. The local organic grocery and lifestyle brand focuses on healthy, sustainable and socially friendly ways of living. The produce is obtained directly from the source to maintain a clean and waste-free chain. The ingredients are made using organic and traditional methods like water mills or hand chakkis to conserve electricity. All the consumables are chemical-free and are unprocessed. From green garbage bags to kombucha, A2 ghee and Pahadi rice, this is a conscious shopper's paradise. And yes, they also offer Himalayan gruyere cheese.

Italian job

This January, Sorrentina took its offerings online; they include dips, crackers to sauces and breads. They're also offering DIY pizza kits that come with red sauce, mozzarella cheese, basil, baby tomatoes, and a pizza base. It can be stored for up to three days in the fridge. We made it on the second day, and it tasted like a slice of Italy on a plate. Their focaccia bread is good to consume as is, or can be slathered with garlic hummus or pesto.

Farm to home, in 12 hours

Fraazo is a green grocery platform that delivers fresh vegetables and fruits from farm to home in under 12 hours. It claims to be the first company to establish the concept of ‘dark stores' [a retail distribution centre or warehouse that caters exclusively to online shoppers] in the country, and boasts of a large network of 250 dark stores across seven cities. It was initially launched as a website by a team of four IIT-IIM graduates and offers a one-touch delivery model.
