In one of the largest narcotics crackdowns this year, the Pydhonie Police have busted a major heroin trafficking racket operating in Mumbai and other states, seizing drugs and assets worth Rs 36.7 crore and arresting nine people, including three women, officials said.

The case dates back to December 16, 2025, when police intercepted two men outside Loha Bhavan on P D'Mello Road in Masjid area of south Mumbai.

Police recovered 326.22 grams of heroin, valued at around Rs 1.30 crore, from the accused, identified as Jalaram Natwar Thakkar (37) and Wasim Majruddin Sayyed (27). A case was registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Arrests lead to wider network

Further investigation led to the arrest of Rubina Mohammed Sayyed Khan (30), who provided crucial leads to another accused, Shabnam Sheikh. Shabnam was later traced and arrested from Ajmer in Rajasthan.

Police then arrested Muskan Samrul Sheikh (19) from the Masjid Bunder area, uncovering more details about the supply chain.

Fresh seizure based on surveillance

Using technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, police identified another suspect, Abdul Qadir Sheikh. On December 24, he was detained, and a personal search resulted in the seizure of heroin worth Rs 1.38 crore.

Investigators said that the drugs had allegedly been supplied by the main supplier, Mehraban Ali, who is still being traced.

The probe later led police to Oshiwara in Andheri, where three men -- Nawajees Ghalib Khan, Sariq Mohammed Salim Salmani, and Samad Ghalib Khan -- were allegedly caught packing heroin.

A massive 33.86 kg consignment of heroin, valued at Rs 33.86 crore, was seized from the premises.
