Thane: 28-year-old man booked for allegedly flashing at minor in Bhiwandi

Police have registered a case against a 28-year-old man for allegedly exposing himself to a minor girl in Maharashtra's Thane district, officials said on Tuesday.

According to PTI, the incident took place on March 14 in a chawl in the Bhiwandi area. According to police, the 13-year-old girl was standing outside her residence when the accused allegedly flashed at her, following which her mother lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Shantinagar Police Station registered a case on Sunday under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to insulting the modesty of a woman, along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

Further investigation is underway, police said.

Mumbai school staffer held in alleged sexual misconduct case involving minor

Earlier last month, a school staffer was arrested in connection with an alleged case of sexual misconduct involving a five-year-old girl near an educational institution in Malad West.

According to the police, the incident allegedly took place near a school on SV Road. The accused, a 30-year-old peon, was taken into custody by the Malad Police's detection team from his residence last month.

The child's mother, in her complaint, alleged that the accused threatened her daughter and made inappropriate physical contact.

She further claimed that despite informing the school administration about the incident, no action was taken at the time, prompting her to approach the police.

Watchman held for attempted sexual assault on 9-year-old in Tardeo

In an another incident, a 60-year-old watchman in Tardeo was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a nine-year-old boy within a residential complex. The incident occurred on Sunday and came to light after the child informed his family.

According to the police, the boy was playing in the building compound when the watchman approached him near an isolated meter room. The accused allegedly restrained the child, forcefully pulled and bit his cheeks, and then led him into the meter room. Once inside, the accused reportedly shut the door and touched the minor inappropriately.

The child's parents immediately took him to JJ Hospital for a medical examination before filing a formal complaint. Tardeo police successfully traced and arrested the accused on Sunday night. While preliminary checks show no prior criminal record, the incident has sparked outrage.

These recurring cases highlight a disturbing trend in assaults against minors in Mumbai, raising urgent concerns regarding the safety and protection of the city's youth.
