Three injured after speeding SUV crashes into motorcycle in Navi Mumbai's Vashi; driver held

Three people were seriously injured after a Mahindra Thar allegedly rammed into their motorcycle in Sector 19 of Navi Mumbai's Vashi, police said said on Tuesday, reported the PTI.

The accident took place at around 9 pm on Monday near P K Hospital.

According to police, the SUV was allegedly being driven by Amar Gurkha Yadav, 32, at high speed when it collided with the motorcycle, the news agency reported.

Three riders sustain serious injuries

The three people on the motorcycle - Prinz Ratkumar Gupta, Manoj Ramphal Gupta and Nikhil Gupta - sustained serious injuries in the accident, according to the PTI.

They were taken for medical treatment following the crash.

Driver allegedly fled the scene

According to the PTI, police said that Yadav allegedly fled the spot after the collision. He was later traced by the police.

A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Two injured after BEST bus crashes into Metro pillar

Meanwhile, in an another incident, two people, including a passenger, were injured after a BEST electric bus crashed into a Metro rail pillar in Mumbai's Goregaon area, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place at around 5 pm on Monday, when the wet-leased electric bus was taking a right turn beneath the flyover near the Oberoi Mall signal while travelling towards Bhayander station (East).

According to officials, the bus first grazed the rear right side of a car before crashing into the Metro pillar.

BEST employee and passenger injured

The injured were identified as Rajendra Muralidhar Sonawane, 58, an employee of the BEST engineering department, and passenger Mangesh Ramchandra Modalekar, 57.

Sonawane suffered a head injury, while Modalekar sustained injuries to his head and chin.

Both were immediately taken to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East by accident inspection staff. They were later discharged after receiving treatment.

Police register case against bus driver

Following a complaint filed by the car driver, police registered a case against the BEST bus driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Further investigation into the accident was underway.
