Students appearing for the Common Entrance Test (CET) exam and Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams have been permitted to travel by Mumbai local trains on showing a valid hall ticket issued by the relevant authorities.

Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Sumit Thakur said, "Candidates who are appearing for the CET up to October 10 and candidates appearing for MPSC exam scheduled on September 25 [today] will be issued with suburban train tickets for the day of their exams." Central Railway chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar said the same applied to local trains on Central Railway, too.

However, there are mega blocks on both railway lines this Sunday.

Thakur said on Western Railway, during the block period, suburban services will be operated on fast lines between Santacruz and Goregaon stations and all slow suburban services will get a double halt at Vile Parle station platform No. 5/6 on the fast corridor and will not halt at Ram Mandir station in either directions. Some suburban trains will remain cancelled. Detailed information to this effect is available with the station masters, he said.
