The Konkan Railway has extended the registration deadline for its Roll-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) car transportation service between Kolad, Nandgaon Road, and Verna, following requests from interested customers, an official statement said on Saturday.

Originally, the last date to register was August 18, 2025, but in response to customer demand for more time, the deadline has now been extended to August 20, 2025, it said.

The Ro-Ro service is designed to help car owners transport their vehicles safely and conveniently across key locations along the Konkan Railway route, reducing road traffic and providing an eco-friendly alternative.

Mid-day has first reported about the brand new service being introduced by the Konkan Railway in June this year.

Passengers and vehicle owners are encouraged to complete their registration before the new deadline. For more information about terms, conditions, and registration procedures, customers can visit the official website, www.konkanrailway.com.

"This service reflects our commitment to improving travel convenience and supporting customers' needs," said Sunil B. Narkar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Konkan Railway.

Earlier this month, the Konkan Railway had announced that they had decided to add a halt at Nandgaon Road station in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra to facilitate Ganapati devotees traffic.

As first reported by mid-day, the Konkan Railway announced the launch of services to ferry private cars by train during this Ganeshotsav between Mumbai and Goa. It will be the first time in India that such a service is being introduced.

"With this addition, passengers can now load and unload their cars at Nandgaon Road, making the journey more flexible and user-friendly for car owners. The stop has been introduced in response to public demand and feedback from passengers. Registration for booking of cars for the Ro-Ro Car Transportation Service is extended till 5 p.m. on August 18," an official spokesperson had earlier said.
