The Maharashtra Transport Department has permitted manual processing of pending RTO applications for key vehicle-related services after a technical issue linking Registration Certificates (RCs) to Aadhaar disrupted online transactions across the state.
The decision follows the intervention of Transport Commissioner Rajesh Narwekar (IAS) after online applications for Transfer of Ownership, Hire Purchase Agreement (HPA), HP Termination, and No Objection Certificate (NOC) services were rejected due to a mismatch between vehicle owners' names on their RCs and Aadhaar cards.
The glitch had brought several RTO services to a standstill over the past few days, causing inconvenience to vehicle owners, transport operators and the general public.
The issue was raised by Bal Malkit Singh, Advisor and former President of the All India Motor Transport Congress, who said he had received multiple representations from transporters and affected vehicle owners regarding the disruption.
Following these representations, Narwekar directed transport authorities to process the affected applications manually until the technical issue is resolved, ensuring that essential public services continue without delay.
Welcoming the decision, Singh said the Transport Commissioner's prompt intervention had provided immediate relief to thousands of vehicle owners and members of the transport fraternity.
He also urged the authorities to resolve the technical issue at the earliest so that online processing of RTO services can resume seamlessly across Maharashtra.
Singh further thanked the officials and staff of the Maharashtra Transport Department for their cooperation and efforts in ensuring uninterrupted public services.
