Maharashtra SIR: Over 93 per cent enumeration forms distributed, nearly 73 per cent digitised

Over 93 per cent of enumeration forms have been distributed and nearly 73 per cent digitised under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra, according to the state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), reported the PTI.

Mumbai city has recorded 90.42 per cent form distribution and 54.67 per cent digitisation, while neighbouring Thane has achieved 82.33 per cent distribution and 46.55 per cent digitisation, the lowest in the state. Election officials continue to accelerate the exercise to complete the revision before the deadline, the news agency reported.

The enumeration exercise began on June 30 and is scheduled to conclude on August 8.

Maharashtra has around 9.79 crore registered voters.

According to the CEO's latest bulletin:

- 9.18 crore enumeration forms (93.79 per cent) have been distributed.

- More than 7.13 crore forms (72.89 per cent) have been digitised.

- 1,00,253 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are engaged in the revision exercise across the state.

Wardha and Hingoli complete distribution

According to the PTI, Wardha and Hingoli districts have achieved 100 per cent distribution of enumeration forms.

However, progress has been slower in several major urban districts:

- Pune - 80.72 per cent

- Thane - 82.33 per cent

- Mumbai Suburban - 85.12 per cent

- Nagpur - 87.62 per cent

- Mumbai City - 90.42 per cent

- Palghar - 91.76 per cent

Digitisation varies across districts

Digitisation of completed forms has also shown uneven progress.

The highest digitisation rates were recorded in:

- Hingoli - 90.47 per cent

- Ratnagiri - 89.86 per cent

- Buldhana - 89.19 per cent

- Yavatmal - 87.93 per cent

Among major cities, the figures remain lower:

- Pune - 59.67 per cent

- Nagpur - 59.77 per cent

- Mumbai City - 54.67 per cent

- Mumbai Suburban - 53.21 per cent

- Thane - 46.55 per cent (lowest in the state)

BLOs leading the revision exercise

The Chief Electoral Officer said Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) in every Assembly constituency have appointed Booth Level Officers after approval from District Election Officers to carry out the revision process, as per the PTI.

The Special Intensive Revision is aimed at updating and verifying Maharashtra's electoral rolls before the publication of the revised voter list.
