Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule on Saturday expressed concern over the lack of progress in repairing roads in Hinjewadi and adjoining areas, despite an assurance given by the Chief Minister during a meeting held on July 10.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Sule highlighted that the Chief Minister had assured that decisions aimed at improving road conditions in the region would be taken within 15 days. However, more than 20 days have passed, and no significant action has been observed on the ground. "The condition of the roads remains 'as it was.' The roads still have potholes, making it difficult to drive vehicles," she stated.

Sule further pointed out that not only are the roads in a dilapidated state, but other basic civic amenities in the area are also in poor condition. "It is essential to restore these facilities to their previous state. For this, the government needs to keep its word and work within a definite timeframe," she said, urging the state administration to act promptly.

Hinjewadi, a prominent IT hub in Pune, has long struggled with traffic congestion, poor road maintenance, and infrastructure woes. The monsoon has only worsened the situation, with large potholes and waterlogging causing daily inconvenience for commuters and residents alike.

While residents and local stakeholders welcomed the Chief Minister's earlier commitment, the delay in execution has drawn criticism from opposition leaders and citizens alike.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Chief Minister's Office regarding the delay in initiating the promised repairs.

Sule's remarks reflect growing public dissatisfaction over infrastructure management in key urban areas, particularly those that serve as economic engines for the state.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has moved Manikrao Kokate from the Agriculture ministry to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs after a viral video of him playing a game on his mobile during the assembly session stirred a political row.

NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule strongly reacted to the government's decision to reassign the the minister's portfolio, terming the decision a "reward" for playing rummy.

In a post on X, Sule said, "The honourable Minister, who tarnishes the state's reputation by calling the Maharashtra government a "beggar," should be shown the door by none other than the honourable Chief Minister himself. The decision to reward him for playing rummy in the legislature by appointing him as the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare and Minority Development, and Waqf is truly incomprehensible."

Sule termed the appointment of Kokate as Minister of Sports as a "cruel joke."
