The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall across Maharashtra on Sunday, while warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy showers at isolated locations in the Ghat areas.
According to the IMD's evening weather bulletin, Pune is expected to record a maximum temperature of around 26 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
Rainfall remained significant across several parts of the state over the past 24 hours. Mahabaleshwar recorded the highest rainfall in Madhya Maharashtra at 156 mm, followed by Satara with 30 mm, Lohgaon with 17 mm, Pune with 13.5 mm, Kolhapur with 11 mm, Sangli with 7 mm, Nashik with 3 mm, and Solapur with 0.2 mm. Jalgaon reported no rainfall.
In the Konkan region, Mumbai's suburbs recorded 66 mm of rainfall, and its island city 49 mm, Ratnagiri 43 mm, and Dahanu 5 mm during the observation period.
Rainfall in Marathwada remained subdued, with Dharashiv receiving 0.2 mm, while Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani reported no rainfall.
Vidarbha witnessed scattered showers, with Gondia receiving 60 mm, Bramhapuri 7 mm, Washim 6 mm, Chandrapur 1 mm, and Akola 0.8 mm, while Nagpur, Amravati, Wardha and Yavatmal reported no rainfall during the observation period.
Temperature-wise, Akola recorded the state's highest maximum temperature at 32.9 degrees Celsius, while Mahabaleshwar registered the lowest minimum temperature at 18.1 degrees Celsius.
Vidarbha is witnessing normal but active monsoon conditions, with widespread light to moderate rainfall across most areas and isolated spells of heavy to very heavy showers, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Day temperatures across the region remain appreciably below normal, while night temperatures continue to stay steady.
Nagpur recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at 32.2 degrees Celsius, whereas Yavatmal registered the lowest minimum temperature at 19.4 degrees Celsius.
Rainfall activity has been fairly widespread, with Buldhana, Ner (Yavatmal), and Joiti (Chandrapur) receiving the highest precipitation of 4 cm each. Several other districts, including Bhandara, Washim, Gadchiroli, Akola, and Gondia, recorded rainfall between 1 cm and 3 cm.
The IMD has issued a shifting weather alert for the next seven days, warning of thunderstorms with lightning and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on Sunday.
The intensity is expected to continue as isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday, before gradually easing to isolated thunderstorm activity on Wednesday and Thursday. Weather conditions are likely to stabilise by Friday and Saturday, with no warnings in place.
Spatially, districts such as Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli are expected to witness widespread rainfall covering 76 per cent to 100 per cent of stations over the next two days. Western Vidarbha districts such as Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldhana, and Washim will initially see fairly widespread rain, turning widespread on Monday before gradually tapering off.
