Mid-Day has introduced a new initiative: DEAR GOVERNMENT.

In this your favourite newspaper will print your questions to BMC, Police and State Government every Monday, and will get answers on your behalf. Be it roads, water crime, government policy, whatever your query, write to us at mailbag@mid-day.com or tweet to us at @mid-day and we will try and get responses to your problems.

Problems

TC on foot bridge, but not platform

In recent times, the number of ticket checkers stationed on footover bridges has increased in Mumbai. On confrontation, they either ask to complain at the head TC office or give excuses for not checking on the platform. Ticket checkers onl sticking to the FoB overshadows the intent of catching ticketless passengers. If a passenger misses his/her train, the checker won't take the accountability for the same. I have missed my connecting train many times only because a ticket checker was breaking the flow of passengers on the foot over bridge.

Illegal parking

It has been observed for almost a year the lane behind Al Barkat School in Kurla West has rampant illegal parking and this leaves pedestrians with no place to walk. Could you please get the authorities to take action against them?

Encroachments on narrow lane

There are illegal obstructions placed on public roads and lanes in C Ward and this has been brought to the notice of officials 33 times already, to no avail. Large rocks, footpath tiles, planters and various other objects continue to be placed on public streets to prevent parking of vehicles. These obstructions inconvenience residents and visitors, create bottlenecks for vehicular movement and pose safety hazards for pedestrians. In particular, St. Anne's Girls High School continues to keep hundreds of planters on the road outside their premises on St Francis Xavier Street, significantly narrowing the lane, obstructing traffic and making parking impossible for residents. I shall be grateful for your intervention in the matter.

Missing bus stop

For years there was a sheltered BEST bus stop opposite ‘F' Road on the Marine Drive Promenade (heading in the North direction). Then, a few years ago, it was arbitrarily removed by the authorities in their own wisdom. The lack of the bus stop is causing great inconvenience and hardship to all concerned especially to senior citizens. Several resident associations have requested the authorities to reinstall the bus stop time and time again. Recently they even wrote to Rahul Narwekar (the Hon'ble Speaker of the Maharashtra Lgislative Assembly) but nothing seems to be forthcoming. Please help us get the bus stop back
