Mid-Day has introduced a new initiative: DEAR GOVERNMENT.
There is a huge problem of unregulated traffic outside Churchgate station Maharishi Karve Road. Taxis double-parked outside the railway station on this major road is causing bottlenecks and traffic. This is very dangerous for pedestrians, older citizens and young who are forced to walk right in the middle of the road. Traffic police must take cognizance of this and resolve this.

Ever since the coastal road has become operational, there is significant influx of bikers racing up and down the road, causing unnecessary sound and noise pollution. Though there are CCTV cameras placed on the main road on both sides, there is still no stopping these stunts at midnight or early morning when the roads are empty. Is there a way to prevent these modified, noise making super bikes from disturbing the peace of an entire neighbourhood at Marine Drive, Churchgate and Nariman Point?

We are fortunate to have Dr Norman Lewis Ground right in front of our residence, and it's truly heartening to see children using the space daily for play and recreation. However, the lack of regular watering by the BMC has become a concern. The dry ground leads to significant dust pollution, which constantly affects the surrounding residents and creates an unhealthy environment. We kindly request the BMC to take necessary action - either by ensuring the ground is watered daily or by installing sprinklers to maintain the space properly. This will help preserve the ground for children while also safeguarding the health and comfort of nearby residents.

Kuddos to mid-day for publishing the issue about the garbage near Sahakari Bhandar in Dadar. The result is that the place has been cleaned. Our only issue is that they have been unable to do anything about the drug addict who is still staying there with his sofa and big bag. We pray he, too, is rehabilitated

Traffic police respond: DCP Traffic (West) Ajit Borhade, said, "The issue with the bikers is that from 11PM to 7AM, traffic police on duty is fewer than in the morning, leading to the bikers taking advantage of this. But since this has been brought to our attention by the public, I will surely inform the night duty officers of the area, and also the local police station, to impose fines on anyone caught driving or riding rashly and making loud noises."

Traffic Police respond: A policeman from the Goregaon Traffic police station said, "Whenever we are at the spot on Panchayat road station, we see to it that no auto drivers refuse passengers. However, sometimes we are unable to help passengers. As for traffic on that narrow road, it is because multiple roads are accessible through here, making it tightly packed. We are trying to manage traffic."

Traffic police respond: DCP Traffic (Central) Dipali Ghade, responding to the question said, "While it is not exactly in our control to make auto drivers take rides, the reason why they might not be stopping with a simple show of hand is because we have implemented a rule that autos cannot stop on random spots and need to wait till a proper stop sign to take passengers."
