The areas of Andheri, Jogeshwari, and Vile Parle were divided into two densely populated wards of K East and West until October 2024, when the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carved out the K North ward, comprising Jogeshwari, Marol, and MIDC, from areas under the densely populated K East ward to better manage amenities.
The K North ward became the 26th administrative ward in Mumbai, after P East, and its office, located in a BMC market building in Poonam Nagar, was inaugurated by then-Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Today, this ward is populated by approximately eight lakh people, according to estimates from the civic body.

K West ward, a prime residential locality, was brought under the BMC's jurisdiction in 1950. It comprises the city's longest beach stretch, from Juhu to Versova, approximately 8 kilometres, and features several indigenous zones, including Versova and Juhu Koliwada, as well as Ambivli and Bandivli gaothans. This ward comprises 12 electoral wards.
The area is popular, being home to the Bombay Flying Club, with the first airport in India, where the first flight was landed by JRD Tata in 1928. Among its commercial centres are Oshiwara, now Ram Mandir. This area faces severe traffic snarls due to the arterial SV Road and the Western Express Highway, providing crucial north-south connectivity in the western suburbs.
