Passengers travelling on the Golden Temple Mail will have to continue boarding and deboarding at Bandra Terminus, as Western Railway has extended the train's temporary terminal arrangements for another six months.
According to Western Railway, Train No. 12903 Mumbai-Amritsar Golden Temple Mail will continue to originate from Bandra Terminus instead of Mumbai Central until February 17, 2027.
Similarly, Train No. 12904 Amritsar-Mumbai Golden Temple Mail will continue to terminate at Bandra Terminus instead of Mumbai Central until February 15, 2027.
The extension comes as part of ongoing operational arrangements notified by Western Railway. The iconic long-distance train, which connects Mumbai with Amritsar in Punjab, was earlier shifted from Mumbai Central to Bandra Terminus on a temporary basis.
Western Railway has advised passengers to take note of the revised boarding and arrival points while planning their journeys to avoid any inconvenience.
The railway administration has not announced any changes to the train's schedule, route or stoppages. Only the originating and terminating stations in Mumbai will remain unchanged under the extended arrangement.
Passengers can check updated train information through official railway enquiry channels before commencing their travel.
Earlier in February, the Western Railway extended the temporary change in the terminal of the Golden Temple Mail for a further six months.
According to a press release issued by Western Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Vineet Abhishek, Train No. 12903 Mumbai Central-Amritsar Golden Temple Mail continued to originate from Bandra Terminus instead of Mumbai Central until August 17, 2026.
Similarly, Train No. 12904 Amritsar-Mumbai Central Golden Temple Mail will continue to terminate at Bandra Terminus in place of Mumbai Central until August 15, 2026.
Meanwhile, in Marche, in a tribute to one of Indian Railways' most iconic trains, Central Railway organised a Train Mahotsav for the Punjab Mail (Train No. 12137/12138) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai.
The event, held to mark the train's 114 years, saw participation from passengers, railway officials, rail enthusiasts and members of the public.
The celebrations began an hour before the scheduled departure at 7.35 pm. The Punjab Mail rake was decked out with heritage-themed vinyl wrapping and screen-printed designs on the exterior, while the interiors reflected the train's heritage.
An audio-visual presentation on the Punjab Mail's history was held, highlighting its role as one of the oldest and most prestigious trains of Indian Railways.
The Wadi Bunder Integrated Coaching Depot, home to the Punjab Mail and maintainer of over 600 coaches, played a key role in the refurbishment.
As part of the Train Mahotsav, the coaches received a makeover combining modern upgrades with heritage elements.
