A fire broke out in an air conditioning unit on the sixth floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Juhu area on Thursday morning, prompting a response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade and other emergency agencies.
No casualties were reported so far, they said.
According to preliminary information, the incident was reported at around 7:43 am at Manisha Building, located on JVPD Road No. 12 near Arogya Nidhi Hospital in Juhu. The fire was confined to an air conditioning unit on the sixth floor of the 11-storey residential building.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade later classified the incident as a Level-1 fire at 7:53 am.
Firefighters, police personnel, officials from Adani Electricity Distribution Company, civic ward staff, Public Works Department personnel and a 108 ambulance were mobilised to the site as part of the emergency response.
Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, and further details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of damage are awaited.
As of the latest update received at 8:01 am, no injuries or casualties had been reported in the incident.
Officials said the fire remained limited to the air conditioning unit, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
In another incident, around 45 residents were safely evacuated from a building after a fire broke out in the eight-storey structure in the Naupada area of Thane city on Tuesday evening, the local civic body said.
The fire erupted in the electric duct of the residential building, Snehsadan, at 5:43 pm, but there were no casualties, said the Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC).
"The fire broke out in the electric duct on the third, fourth and fifth floors of the building," RDMC chief Yasin Tadvi said.
Local residents, along with RDMC staff and fire brigade personnel, managed to put out the blaze after about 30 minutes of efforts, he said.
"With the help of RDMC staff and fire brigade personnel, around 45 residents of the building were safely evacuated." Tadvi informed.
